A different view on heritage education with youngsters
6 - 12 April 2009, in-service training course in France
A different view on heritage education with youngsters is a five day European in-service training course on heritage education. It is aimed at both teachers in secondary education and educational guides or officers who want to start with heritage education and are looking for tools to get started or who already have experience with heritage education and want to stretch their thinking. The course aims to engage its participants actively to experience heritage by means of art based
methodologies.
The course content is developed by De Veerman (The Ferryman), a Flemish arts educational project organisation, for the third time.
Starting from a theoretical introduction on what heritage and heritage education is, it goes on to explore the Abbey of St-Jean d’Angély and the surrounding area and cities by means of observation and exploration exercises, active workshops and guided visits.
Specialised knowledge of heritage themes and/or art disciplines is not required. Every day sufficient time will be given to the participants to present their own experiences, to exchange ideas and to reflect upon their learning.
